This was my first BMW and I am very impressed. But why am I selling it ?
I have ridden "Sports Tourers" for the last 17yrs, Yamaha FJR1300 t be exact. IMHO one of the best bikes ever made. But, I could not find a legit secondhand version here in Thailand. I tried, hard. The FJR is more "Tourer" than "Sports", but that is what I wanted it for.
The the BMW came up and after flying to Phuket to test ride it I was 'sold' on it. What was not apparent at the time, but has become so since, is the BMW is more "Sports" than "Tourer", I really need a tourer.
So a "Tourer" finally came up a few weeks ago, Kawasaki 1400GT, "Sports Tourer".... So much like the it's incredible. So I have the bike I want, now it's time to say goodbye to my BMW.
The BMW is the smoothest and most powerful bike I have ridden. Full stop.
You will need a highway and big balls to get the BMW K1200S' throttle on the stop. Acceleration is thrilling to say the least.
The BMW K1200S' comfort is better than many touring motorcycles and the electric screen is superb at making autobahn wasting totally relaxing. BMW’s panniers are quite small but don’t affect high speed handing like some larger aftermarket ones. Factory extras for the BMW K1200S include the excellent Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA), low seat, heated grips, on-board computer and an alarm.
Shaft drive means less maintenance and expense.
Fitted with ESA (Electronic suspension adjustment). This is operated by a switch on the handlebar and gives comfort, normal or sport settings.
