One of the last built by the Bertram yard in FL., USA, under the then new Ferretti ownership. The Ferretti Group acquired Richard Bertram Yachts Inc. in 1989.
‘Baby Bertram’, HIN – US BERT5086A600, was reportedly commissioned by Norberto Ferretti for his personal use after he spotted the mold in the yard soon after acquiring Bertram Yachts. He upgraded the Yanmar diesel engines to 420 HP each and had them finished in white; the then color of choice for Ferretti engines. Consequently, Baby Bertram can comfortably, and more importantly safely, cruise at between 23 to 25 knots (burning in aggregate approximately 70 liters per hour at 2,400revs.) with a top speed of over 30 knots at 3,300 revs. WOT. Allowing for a sufficient reserve; with a diesel capacity of 947 liters, Baby Bertram has a range of between 250 and 300 Nautical miles subject to conditions, which is more than sufficient for coastal cruising in the Andaman region. Baby Bertram is currently lying in Phuket.
Baby Bertram benefits from the solid strength of build and fine sea keeping characteristics associated with all Bertram motor yachts, and is thus a safe cruiser that can cope with most local sea states.
Baby Bertram is a versatile motor yacht, ideal for deep sea fishing with an open and uncluttered after deck area but equally suited to island hopping and for use as a family weekender or extended coastal cruiser. From Phuket, her speed enables her to reach most local popular fishing grounds and back in a day. Her generator, spacious enclosed cabin (6+ foot head room), air conditioning, comprehensive galley equipment (induction stove/fridge/microwave/external freezer and large ice box), after deck food prep area and sink, electric heads - all provide the necessary basic comforts and peace of mind for overnight and extended cruises.
Baby Bertram is thus ‘fit for purpose’ both for use as a commercial day charter motor yacht; targeted at guests at the high end of the market, and as a safe, comfortable and versatile family motor yacht for private use for day and extended coastal cruising. She is Thai registered and fully compliant for chartering in Phuket and surrounding waters.
Earlier this year, Baby Bertram was re anti-fouled, engines fully serviced by the authorized Yanmar service provider in Phuket, and some systems improvements made. In addition, the Bimini covers have been renewed and extended to provide weather protection whilst underway in tropical downpours and thermal protection added to provide better heat and UV protection overhead.
The offered price reflects the ‘good’ condition of Baby Bertram, the world renowned quality of the brand and the rarity of this model in the region.
In summary, a safe, versatile and characterful vessel which is exciting and fun to helm with the potential to earn her keep!
