Benefitting from a Zeiss design that incorporates two aspherical elements and the renowned T* coating, this zoom will help capture sharp, aberration-free images. Also, due to the use of a variable f/3.5-4.5 maximum aperture the overall size and weight is kept to a minimum. Handling and operation is intuitive, especially with an Auto Clutch mechanism that prevents the focusing ring from rotating when autofocus is engaged. Additionally, the internally focusing lens has a minimum focus distance of 1.1' and it has a seven-blade circular diaphragm for smooth bokeh. Based on the Zeiss Sonnar optical concept, this lens uses a design with 14 elements in 10 groups that helps provide a maximum aperture range of f/3.5-4.5 while simultaneously reducing flare and improving contrast. A standard-length zoom designed for Sony A-mount APS-C-format cameras, the 16-80mm will provide a versatile wide-angle to telephoto 24-120mm equivalent focal length. Two aspherical elements are incorporated in the lens design to reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations. Zeiss T* anti-reflective coatings have been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections in order to provide greater image clarity, contrast, and color fidelity. An Auto Clutch mechanism prevents the focusing ring from rotating when the lens is set to autofocus, allowing for easier, and more natural feeling control over the lens. An internal focus design enables fast autofocus as well as a minimum focus distance of 1.1'. Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when employing selective focus techniques. About this item ● 5x zoom designed specifically for DSLR APS-size ● Superb performance from wide angle to telephoto ● 2 glass-molded aspherical lenses for extra precision ● Circular aperture for pleasing defocused effects.Equivalent 35mm when mounted on an APS format DSLR - 24 - 120mm ● Auto clutch to stop manual focus ring rotation, wide focus ring for a solid feel in manual focusing Vario-Sonnar T* DT 16-80mm F3.5-4.5 ZA Zoom Lens The lightest and most compact zoom in the Carl Zeiss lineup, this lens offers the greatest zoom range making it a superb single-lens solution for many photographers. It delivers acclaimed Carl Zeiss optical performance and handling with image quality that rivals the best prime lenses at any focal length. Technology Circular Aperture When changing your aperture to defocus the background, the light sources appear blurred. This ‘bokeh’ effect of the blurred background can be enhanced with circular aperture blades used in this lens. Conventional aperture blades have flat sides creating unappealing polygonal shaped defocussed points of light. α lenses overcome this problem through a unique design that keeps the aperture almost perfectly circular from its wide-open setting to when it is closed by 2 stops. Smoother, more natural defocusing can be obtained as a result. Aspherical lens elements Aspherical lens design dramatically reduces spherical aberration while also reducing lens size and weight. Spherical aberration is a slight misalignment of the light rays projected on the image plane. This is caused by differences in refraction at different points on conventional spherical lenses which degrade image quality in large-aperture lenses. Specially shaped “aspherical” elements near the diaphragm restore alignment of light rays at the image plane, maintaining high sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture and can also be used at other points in the optical path to reduce distortion. Well-designed aspherical elements can reduce the total number of elements required in the lens, thus reducing overall size and weight. Advanced Aspherical (AA) elements are an evolved variant, featuring an extremely high thickness ratio between the center and periphery. AA elements are exceedingly difficult to produce, relying on the most advanced molding technology to consistently and precisely achieve the required shape and surface accuracy, resulting in significantly improved image accuracy and quality. Carl Zeiss T* (T-star) coating Coated optics were pioneered by Carl Zeiss - and this superb lens features the Carl Zeiss T* (T-Star) coating that virtually eliminates lens flare, internal reflection and light scattering that can otherwise occur at glass-to-air surfaces. The T* coating contributes to outstanding image quality, with high contrast and uniformly excellent resolution right out to the image edges. Not simply applied to any lens - the T* symbol only appears on multi-element lenses in which the required performance has been achieved throughout the entire optical path, therefore guaranteeing the highest quality. Distance encoder The distance encoder plays an integral part in ADI flash metering, which delivers high precision flash metering that is unaffected by the reflectance of subjects or backgrounds. The distance encoder is a lens component that directly detects the position of the focusing mechanism, and sends a signal to the CPU in order to measure distance to the subject. During flash photography, this data is very useful in calculating how much flash output is appropriate to the scene. Additional Features Internal focusing Only the middle groups of the optical system move to achieve focus, so the overall length of the lens does not change. Other important benefits include fast autofocusing and a short minimum focusing distance. Also, the filter thread at the front of the lens does not rotate, which is convenient if you’re using a polarizing filter.

The EOS SL1 provides sharp details, accurate colors and low-noise imaging in compact form factor with easy to use interface. A 9-point autofocus system provides fast focusing when shooting with the viewfinder and Hybrid CMOS AF II increases autofocus speed and accuracy when shooting in Live View. The Rebel SL1 can continuously shoot up to 4 fps and its wide ISO range of 100-12800 (expandable to 25600) allows for confident shooting in bright and low light situations. A 3.0" Clear View II touchscreen LCD with 1,040k-dot resolution provides composition and playback viewing. Its intuitive touchscreen operation includes multi-touch operation with direct access to functions for settings changes and Touch Autofocus. Smudge-resistant coating keeps the monitor clear, even in bright sunlight. An optical viewfinder with 0.87x magnification is also available for stable eye-level composition. Full HD 1080p at 30 fps and 24 fps is supported with Movie Servo for continuous autofocus during shooting. Manual exposure is provided in video mode and 60 fps is possible when shooting at 720p HD. A built-in mono microphone with manual audio level adjustment is provided, and Video Snapshot with editing is supported. The Canon EOS 100D (called the Digital Rebel SL1 in North America) is the smallest and lightest APS-C DSLR ever made. The 18 megapixel 100D / SL1 offers a 'Hybrid CMOS AF II' system with 80% frame coverage, a 3” ClearView II capacitive touchscreen LCD screen, a 63-zone metering sensor, 9 AF points, standard ISO settings of 100-12800 (expandable to 25600), DIGIC 5 processor and 4fps continuous shooting. The 100D's video mode offers 1080p Full HD recording at 24/25/30fps and 720p HD capture at either 50 or 60fps, with full manual control over exposure and gain. The Canon EOS 100D is available body-only for £579.99 / €739.99 / $649.99 The new EOS 100D / Digital Rebel SL1 is the smallest DSLR camera that Canon have ever made. Measuring 116.8 x 90.7 x 69.4mm and weighing just 407g, it sits between the EOS M compact system camera and the EOS 700D in both size and price. Despite its tiny dimensions, the control layout will be instantly familiar to anyone who's used a mid-range Canon DSLR before, commendably offering most of the external controls that the previous generation EOS 650D offered. The main attraction of the EOS 100D will also be viewed as its main drawback by some potential users - shrinking the overall package has inevitably led to some compromises in terms of the ergonomics, most notably the handgrip. We could only fit a couple of our average-sized fingers around the grip, with a little finger supporting the base of the camera, which doesn't offer as much support as usual. This is fine when the EOS 100D is fitted with a small lens like the EF 40mm pancake that we had in for testing, but is insufficient for some of the bigger and heavier EF lenses. Still, at least the camera is compatible with Canon's vast range of EF-S and EF lenses - you're definitely spoilt for choice in this regard. In terms of build quality, the Canon EOS 100D / SL1 certainly feels solid enough for a consumer-grade DSLR, although as you'd perhaps expect not in the same league as the semi-professional EOS 60D and 7D models. Like all of Canon's APS-C digital SLR cameras, the EOS 100D / SL1 is compatible with the manufacturer's entire line-up of lenses, including both EF and EF-S glass. When changing lenses, EF lenses need to be aligned with the red dot on the lens mount, whereas EF-S lenses must be aligned with the white square. The 1,040,000-dot resolution of the rear LCD panel is identical in resolution to the 650D's display. The screen has an aspect ratio of 3:2 - i.e. identical to that of the sensor - so the photos fill the screen completely, with no black stripes along the top and bottom. Unlike the 650D, though, the screen is fixed in place rather than articulated, so you can't tilt it to the side.

SONY FE Sony 35mm lenses are pretty good but their E-Mount f1.4 offering is a Zeiss T* optic that is very expensive indeed! This fast compact lens is a great artistic choice for environmental portraiture, street and landscape photography, to say nothing of the value that it brings to your equipment bag. This lens also works fine with Sony's APS-C E-mount cameras and provides 53mm full-frame equivalent coverage. In a departure from other 7Artisans optics, this lens features a clicked aperture ring. HIGHLIGHTS 1. E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format 2. Manual Focus Design 3. Minimum Focus Distance: 1.3' 4. Aperture Range: f/1.4 to f/16 7artisans 35mm f/1.4 II Overview A comfortable wide-angle with a fast design, the Sony E-mount 7artisans 35mm f/1.4 is a versatile prime well-suited for a variety of shooting applications. Its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture suits working in low-light conditions and also offers increased control over depth of field for isolating subjects and producing selective focus effects. Its manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 1.3' away and an 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality. ● Compact wide-angle prime is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length. ● Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also offers improved control over depth of field for selective focus applications. ● Manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 1.3' away. ● An 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. I’d never appreciated how much fun there was to be had with a manual focus lens until I received the 7artisans 35mm f/1.4. This small, heavy, rather simple piece of gear brings a huge amount of joy — and bokeh — to your shooting thanks to an insanely fast maximum aperture and some quirks that give every image a healthy dose of character. Sony cameras can feel devoid of soul, and this is a lens that can make you feel like even the most mundane scenes or details are worthy of being photographed. If you’re a pixel peeper that wants crisp, perfect images, this lens is not for you – Sony has plenty of others that fit that bill. If you want to rediscover some simple joys in your photography — or if you simply want to experience f/1.4 without spending an insane amount of money — this lens could be a perfect choice. In addition, other than truly vintage lenses that require an adapter, there’s nothing else on the market quite like it.
