The Sony HX200 is an 18.2 Megapixel super-zoom camera with a 30x stabilised optical zoom lens and an articulated 3 inch LCD screen. Apart from an additional 2 million pixels over its predecessor, the HX200V features a faster AF system, improved battery life and Clear Image digital zoom which extends the range by a factor of two to an equivalent maximum of 1620mm.

The HX200 has a 3 inch flip-up LCD which, with 921k pixel resolution provides a highly detailed view and a 0.2in, 201k dot electronic viewfinder. As you’d expect from Sony it’s not short on gadgets and features and as well as two intelligent auto modes, 3D shooting, Sweep Panorama and 3D panorama, it also offers a range of stacking modes designed to get good results in low light.

ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 12800 and there is approximately 105MB of internal memory – this allows for about 17 still image captures at full resolution or about 370 captures at VGA resolution. Movies may not be captured on internal memory. The camera is compatible with Sony memory stick duo, memory stick Pro duo or memory stick Pro – HG duo cards, but video capture is not available on the duo card and Pro duo cards must be Mark 2 for video capture. The camera also accepts SD/SDHC/SDXC and micro SD memory media; class 4 or higher is recommended for video capture. The HX200 produced a shooting screen in about 2 seconds after power up and I was able to get off a first shot in about 2.75 seconds; single shot to shot times ran about 2 seconds with full resolution images. The camera can produce up to a 10 frame per second continuous shooting rate at full resolution for 1 second, and those 10 images take approximately 7 seconds to write with an SDHC UHS-1 95MB/sec card.

With a zoom this powerful, you can capture distant subjects far beyond the reach of an ordinary camera—from birds and other animals in the wild, to distant landscapes, aircraft and even planets. Dynamic Fine Zoom2, an enhanced digital zoom that effectively doubles the reach to a 4,000mm, allowing for even greater zoom potential. At the other end of the spectrum, macro photography can be captured as close as approx. 1 cm/0.4 in.3. From macro close-ups to extreme telephoto superzoom , the COOLPIX P950 delivers sharp, clear and beautiful images, all in a compact, highly portable body. 135mm format equivalent. At the maximum image size. The maximum zoom ratio varies by image size. Dynamic Fine Zoom magnification is calculated from the maximum wide-angle position of the optical zoom. Distance from the center of the front surface of the lens. Nikon P950 Overview Characterized by its expansive zoom, the COOLPIX P950, from Nikon, is a versatile compact camera offering a unique mixture of stills and video capabilities along with reach to photograph even the most distant of subjects. The 16MP 1/2.3" CMOS sensor features a back-illuminated design that contributes to a high degree of clarity and reduced noise to better suit working at high sensitivities and in difficult lighting conditions. The sensor also permits recording UHD 4K video at up to 30 fps, Full HD video at up to 60 fps, and in-camera time-lapse recording and movie creation. Complementing the imaging capabilities, the P950 is, of course, distinguished by its huge 83x optical zoom lens, which covers a 24-2000mm equivalent focal length range. This immense reach is benefitted by Dual Detect Vibration Reduction, which compensates for the effects of camera shake in order to realize sharper results when shooting handheld. Additionally, the P950 also features a bright 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, large 3.2" 921k-dot vari-angle LCD monitor, and has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless sharing and remote camera control. 16MP BSI CMOS Sensor and EXPEED Image Processor Featuring a 16MP 1/2.3" BSI CMOS sensor, the P950 is capable of realizing high-resolution stills and video along with notable speed and sensitivity. The BSI design of the sensor yields reduced noise levels and greater image clarity when working within the expandable ISO 100-6400 sensitivity range. The sensor and EXPEED processor also enables quick continuous stills shooting up to 7 fps at full resolution to suit working with moving subjects. In addition to stills, the P950 is also capable of UHD 4K video recording at up to 30 fps and Full HD recording at 60 fps. Time lapse recording is supported, too, with in-camera processing to produce time lapse movies at 25 or 30 fps playback. 83x Optical Zoom NIKKOR Lens The P950's key feature is its impressive 83x zoom lens, which provides a huge wide-angle to super telephoto 24-2000mm equivalent focal length range. This range can be effectively doubled to 166x when using Dynamic Fine Zoom for even greater reach to truly isolate those distant subjects. At the wide-angle end, the lens has a bright f/2.8 design to suit working in available light and Dual Detect VR also helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake to suit handheld shooting. Additionally, the lens's optical design incorporates Super ED glass to suppress a variety of aberrations throughout the zoom range for improved sharpness and clarity. Body Design ● Bright 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder is a clear and useful means for eye-level monitoring and benefits working at longer focal lengths by serving as an additional physical point of contact against the camera. ● For image review and menu navigation, a large 3.2" 921k-dot LCD is featured, and has a vari-angle design to better enable working from high, low, and front-facing angles. ● Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work in conjunction with Nikon's SnapBridge app for wireless file transferring and remote camera control from a linked mobile device.

ZEISS Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM Overview Characterized by its speed and sophisticated design, the black Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM from ZEISS is a wide-angle prime for M-mount rangefinder cameras. Balancing the versatile wide focal length is the notably bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, which aids in working in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field. The Distagon optical design, which helps to reduce distortion, is benefitted by the inclusion of both aspherical and anomalous partial dispersion elements to further suppress spherical and chromatic aberrations for high sharpness and clarity. A floating elements system is also employed to maintain image quality throughout the focusing range, even at the minimum focusing distance of 2.3', and a T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to individual elements to control lens flare and ghosting. Wide-angle lens employs a Distagon optical concept to realize well-corrected imagery with virtually no distortion. Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also offers increased control over depth of field for selective focus shooting. Two aspherical elements help to reduce spherical aberrations in order to realize a high degree of sharpness. Three anomalous partial dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved color accuracy and clarity. ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections and provide greater contrast and color fidelity. Floating elements design helps to maintain consistent image quality throughout the focusing range. Manual focus design enables a minimum focusing distance of 2.3'. A 10-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when working with selective focus techniques.
