Classic Land Rover
Our family moved back to USA and I’m selling my beloved Land Rover.
1972 Series III Land Rover
Book was lost generations ago, but the English speaking staff at the car shop (heading north from Tesco in Tongsala) arrange insurance and necessary paperwork. This method works fine on the island, but if you wish to move the car off of Koh Phangan, you would need to get a new book and plates arranged on your own.
Last year we upgraded the drive shaft, added modern breaks and a new clutch.
Full disclosure: It’s a vintage truck that drives like a tractor. As with any vehicle approaching 50 years old, you can expect to make repairs now and then.
A Nissan diesel has replaced the original engine making service and repairs much easier on the island.
My land rover has been in storage for 12 months. Ran well before going into storage, but the battery is probably now dead, breaks may be rusty and who knows what else, maybe a python living in it by now.
Sold as-is, that's why the price is so low. Expect some expenses to bring this Series III out of her long sleep.
Seat belts: No
Sound System: Nope
Air Conditioning: Yeah right....
Power Steering: Forget about it
Parking Brake: Kind of, if on level ground
MPG: No Idea, there is no gauge.
4WD: YES. This truck is a beast and will drive up a wall in 4WL.
Am I sad to sell it? Hell Yes. She is the coolest car I ever owned.
Now in storage near Had Salad Beach, Koh Phangan.
I return to the Island on Dec 12, 2018 for a few weeks. First person to show up w 168,000 Baht gets the keys to my baby. Take good care of her!
